Uses and Benefits of Garlic

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.”

– Thomas Edison

GARLIC: Drives away Infection, as well as … VAMPIRES!

PROPERTIES: Antiseptic, decongestant, antioxidant, hypotensive, circulatory stimulant, digestive aid, anthelmintic, febrifuge

The humble garlic bulb, much misunderstood for its lingering odor, is an ancient remedy with a powerful effect on infections. When crushed, raw garlic releases which is strongly antibiotic. After circulating in the blood stream, allicin is excreted via lungs, bowels, skin, and the urinary system – all of which are disinfected in the process.

INTERNAL:

Garlic’s antimicrobial effect can help to combat sore throats, colds and flu, bronchial and lung infections, as well as yeast and intestinal infections, such as worms. In the respiratory system, garlic also acts as a decongestant and expectorant, and bronchial asthma. Because it causes sweating, it can be used to bring down a fever. Garlic improves digestion, stimulating the secretion of digestive juices and the movement of food through the intestines. Its antiseptic action cleanses the liver and the digestive system, thereby improving, general health. Research has shown garlic’s ability to lower blood sugar and cholesterol significantly, and to reduce blood pressure and a tendency to clotting. Research also shows that garlic acts as a powerful antioxidant and its sulfur compounds can inhibit tumors.

EXTERNAL:

Garlic may be crushed, macerated in oil, or made into an ointment and applied to cuts, inflamed joints, rheumatism, sprains, athlete’s foot, ringworm, as well as stings and bites. An oil infusion can be dropped into the ear to relieve ear ache, and rubbed into the chest to treat coughs and chest infections, such as bronchitis and whooping cough.

Garlic has a most powerful effect on infections, being antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, and antiviral. It has been used successfully in the past to treat food poisoning, diarrhea, and dysentery, cholera, and typhoid, and its antiseptic cleansing action can work throughout the body. Perhaps garlic’s ability to drive away infection is linked to its reputation for driving away vampires! In many traditions garlic was hung in strings from roofs, of houses and sterns of boats to prevent attack by witches, sorcerers, demons, and evil spirits.

ELIXIR:

To make garlic juice for coughs, cold, and sore throats: cut several cloves into thin pieces, cover with honey, and leave for 2-3 hours. Take the extracted juice in teaspoonfuls frequently through out the day.

With kids heading back to school, keeping a good elixir and fresh garlic in your home can do much to keep viruses and infections from entering the body, and thus spreading to other members of your household. It is especially helpful to take on a daily dosage to prevent illness. With the flu virus, as well as the swine flu virus circulating out there now…..best to be prepared to have a happy and healthy fall and winter.

Do you live with Spirit in Mind? Or more in the Physical?

Hey everyone, I did the Seacoast for better living expo this past Saturday, and besides the most important question of “Who’s around me?” I was really intrigued that many asked if pets, as well as the spirits of loved ones, or of those we knew in prior life times are around?  Well….without any hesitation, the answer is  a resounding “YES”!  I think the best way to explain it would be this way.  Before we enter a life, we make a plan, a map so to speak.  And in this map, we have definite things that will be done.  And in others we have a choice or “Free Will,” as the other side likes to put it.  That gut feeling that makes us hesitate before acting, or speaking, or driving, etc….In their opinion, this is the voice of reason, not your brain, that is physical, it will die with the body, but your soul is 100% pure.  It cannot be polluted by society or religion, television, or a bad atmosphere.  We were born knowing all that there is and was, and will be.  And as we grow we begin to lose the ability to hear and listen to that inner voice, until all we feel is a hesitation, or doubt.  Their advice, when in doubt, even the smallest, Say NO!

It doesn’t mean forever, in all cases, it may simply mean, “Not Yet”, we may have to learn something first before moving into this direction.  I know that everyone has had that feeling before.  Should I, Shouldn’t I, and when we go against our deep inner feelings, we realize later, after the fact, that we made a mistake.  That we “knew,” we should have done the other.  Now…mistakes aren’t bad if we learn from them.  But to continue to make the same mistakes, well, that bring on another lifetime of one more thing you need to correct, learn, walk away from, and deal with.  It’s Karma, baby!  And it’s a bigger thing than anyone can beat.  You will be dealt a blow if you do it to another.  The old saying, what goes around, comes around?  So True!  So think before you speak, and if you feel it was a bit unfair, or mean, then apologize, but mean it.  You can say your sorry a hundred times, but if you don’t mean it, it doesn’t count.  In fact it’s one hundred more times you will have to fix it.  The simplest things in the life, and the way our spirits really are, that is how we are to live.  Yes our physical bodies can wreck havoc, and some forget the soul and it’s internal reasoning, so much so, that terrible things happen.  Again, this is not the soul, but the physical which has lost all reason, and lives only for itself, it believes in only itself, and that whatever he or she does, it’s of no matter.  It’s a very sad thing.  I was speaking to a group of people a few weeks ago, and it amazed me how this one couple, who were verbally abusive to others, and judgmental, as well as bitter, and hateful, believed that they would go straight to heaven when they died, and yes they will, but not without seeing all they had done to others and feeling all the pain they caused.  The soul was pure, but the physical was cruel and without compassion of any king.  What annoyed me the most about them, was that they believed because they were “Good Christians,” and being in church every Sunday, they were in Gods favor.  As I said, they will have a rude awakening.  Only we can judge ourselves when we leave a life, and people that live without compassion, patience, tolerance, love, and above all, non-judgment, will see and feel the pain they caused.  Yes…heaven is home, and this is work, and each of us has our own mission in mind.  My advice would be to listen to your mind, that gut feeling, and not your brain.  Anything that has physical matter will one day die, but our souls live forever.  And the way you treat people, animals, and all living things, determines what you will decide is just and fair when you return home.

Am still updating things…

New Health Forum should be up!  The show for CBS airs on the 30th!  Check  your local listings for times.

Hey everyone!

Hope you are enjoying the fall weather, it’s beautiful here.  Just put additional tour dates up on the  Calendar page, check them out to see if I will be in an area near you!  Also the CSI case from the haunted cemetery will air on the 30th of this month, so check your local listings for times.  If you do not get it.  You can watch it on line via webcast.  Go to www.wgme.com

Located in Portland, Maine and check the listings for upcoming programs.  You may even see the trailer, before I do!  Would love to hear your feedback on it.  Negative or good, it’s all helpful.  Hope many of you who haven’t taken the advice of doctors are getting that annual flu shot.  No you cannot get sick from it.  It’s a dead virus.  Some get misinformed, and believe it gives you the flu, years ago it did, but these shots for the past 10 years or more are not giving you the flu, just giving your body the ability to fight the illness.  See your doctor for inoculations regarding swine flu…as it stands now, the young adults and very small children and infants , as well  as pregnant women are at the top of the list for vaccines.  If it becomes necessary for your area to have the vaccines, in the invent of a mass outbreak, your health care providers will tell you if you are in a rick type category.  But for now, the regular flu shot is a must, unless you have allergies to chicken, or eggs, you are and should receive it.  137,000 people die from flu related illness every year.  It’s worth a five minute wait, to keep yourself and your family healthy.  Hoping you all enjoy your Halloween, and keep those treats to a minimum.  I know the kids love it, but …..with the obesity issues in this country, we all need to watch what our children are eating.  And to much of anything isn’t good.

To your health!

Vicki
